Easy Watercolor Mountains Tutorial – Bible Journaling With Me

Hi Friend!

Today I have a super quick “Bible Journaling With Me” tutorial for you! I had a few requests for an easy mountain scene; so when I read Matthew 17:20 I thought this would be a perfect time!

Matthew 17:20 says “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Love this verse! He can do anything for us if we just have faith in Him!

I decided to create a simple and easy mountain and sunrise to journal this verse in my Bible. Just two partial triangles, a half circle sun, and some watercolors quickly painted on, is all it took to make it come to life! It took me about 15 minutes start to finish to create my mountain page, and I truly believe you can create a similar page as well, no matter your artistic talent.

If you do not like to cover the scripture, you can totally create a smaller version to fit the margin (like I did in the image below for my page on Psalm 30:5)

Remember, I used watercolors, but you can always use colored pencils, gelatos, etc.

Two of the most common questions I get when using watercolors in my Bible journaling are if it bleeds-through (or if I prepare my page with gesso beforehand) and if my page crinkles. -I do not prepare my page when using watercolor and have never had any bleed-through issues, however, I do occasionally get some ghosting (or shadowing) with dark colors. My pages do crinkle slightly as well, that is just the nature to using water in your Bible, but I find that it is hardly noticeable after a few weeks closed in my Bible. (I also personally love the texture of the slightly crinkly pages. It feels all vintage-y and well-loved)
