Watercolor Citrus Slices Tutorial- Bible Journaling With Me

Hi friend,

Today I have a quick summer citrus slices “Bible Journaling With Me” video for you!

I was working on Psalms 107:9 which says “For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things” in the NIV version, or “For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things” in the ESV version. I love both translations of this verse!

It’s been super hot here lately in California, so I immediately thought of summertime when I read this verse. When I am sweaty and thirsty and hungry, a nice glass of lemonade or citrus water always seems to hit the spot! God can satisfy us in the same way that lemonade can! He takes our thirsty and hungry soul and satisfies it, filling it with good things! Don’t you just love that!?

So for my Bible journaling page, I decided to paint some citrus slices and hand-letter “He Satisfies”. To learn more about how to do brush pen calligraphy like this, check out this blog post HERE.

The citrus slices themselves are fairly straightforward. Just take a few circle objects to mark circles around your page, and paint over them. Then start adding triangle wedges! The size and shape do not matter much here, the most important thing is to make sure that you have a sliver of white space in between each wedge and between the wide part of the wedge and the outer “skin” circle.

One of the things that makes these slices look so neat, is that for each fruit I used two colors. (So two yellows for the lemons, two greens for the lime, and two oranges for the orange.) If you don’t have a set like my Gansai Tambi Watercolors that has a bunch of different shades already mixed, you can totally mix your own colors!  Just use them interchangeably, switching colors every other or every two wedges you paint!

The video below shows this process much easier!
