Finger-Painting Flowers Tutorial- Bible Journaling With Me

So I was watching “The Bachelor” a couple of weeks ago (I know, I know, bear with me), and at one point during the show, one of the girls was talking to the bachelor, Peter, about how she has fun with him. And he really didn’t like that she was using the word “fun” to describe their relationship. He wanted something more serious I guess… needless to say, he eliminated her that day.

I have been thinking a lot about this because I felt like, yes relationships should be deep and meaningful, but having fun in a relationship is also really important! Enjoying each other’s company and being joyful together strengthens bonds.

In the Christian community, we are always talking about building a deeper, stronger, and purposeful relationship with Christ. Which, of course, is necessary and important and should be our goal, but what about having a fun relationship with him too?!

Let’s dive deep, but also worship him and study his word in a way that is FUN!

The Tutorial

Today’s tutorial is all about having fun! It might bring you back to your childhood also. WE ARE FINGER PAINTING!

I love fingerpainting in my Bible for a few reasons:

  1. It’s FUN… am I overusing the word yet?
  2. It leaves our fingerprints as a visual in our Bibles of who we are, what we create, and our hearts for Jesus
  3. You don’t have to dirty any brushes
  4. And, it’s FUN… oh, did I say that already?

Notes

-There is no need to prep your page when using acrylic paints. They also act as a page prep, so you can use supplies that normally would bleed-through on top of them without worry.

-I use cheap Apple Barrel acrylic paints, but any brand should work. Though I do recommend using a matte acrylic if you are able.

-I added hand-lettering to my page with the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen. But, if you haven’t learned or don’t want to, you can absolutely use stamps or stickers or your normal handwriting to add your verse/notes/prayer to the page.

-If you would like to learn how to create calligraphy like mine, check out my hand-lettering tutorials. (I specifically recommend the faux calligraphy and brush pen calligraphy basics to get started.)

-This page is just my interpretation. I encourage you to use this as inspiration to create your own thing! If you do make a page inspired by mine, I would love to see it! Tag me @scribblinggrace on Instagram and @scribblingrace on Facebook.
