Bible Journaling Tip-ins – Plus A Free Printable!

Today is going to be a pretty quick post all about Bible journaling tip-ins! If you are new to Bible journaling, you may have heard others refer to “tip-ins”, but don’t actually know what they are or how to use them. Basically, “tip-in” is Bible journaling slang for adding a separate piece of paper into your journaling Bible.

Tip-ins are an easy and quick way to add extra space and pieces of art into your bible journaling. This free printable is a great place to start. Just cut them out and adhere them with tape or glue!

Tip-ins are a great item to utilize because they add extra space to your journaling Bible, but they also allow for a lot of flexibility and creativity, that otherwise, may not be able to happen in your Bible.

The tip-in options are truly endless. You can use completely blank sheets of papers for extra note space, printed images on printer-paper or vellum paper (vellum makes for a really cool see-through image), or even your own art. You can also use small prayer cards, bookmarks, photos, or really anything that you wish to add to your Bible. I’ve even seen people use doilies, fabric, restaurant menus, and magazine clippings!

I created a free printable of my own artwork that you can tip-into your Bible! You can it download here or by clicking the image below! I included one with hand-lettering of my favorite verses in Isaiah, as well as one with blank artwork, so you can add them wherever you like! You can print them on your favorite kind of tip-in paper. I just used normal printer paper for my own bible, and it works great!

There are a few different ways that you can attach these papers to your Bible. You can add them in-between two pages into the spine, or you can attach it to the sides to flip outward (apparently some have taken to calling these “tip-outs”.)

Really you can use any kind of adhesive that you are comfortable with. The types that I use regularly are liquid glue (Elmer’s works just fine), a glue stick, washi tape, and a double-sided tape roller.

To insert a tip-in into the spine, I prefer to use a liquid glue and carefully apply it to just the edge of my tip-in. (Using a small paintbrush to apply the glue can be helpful.) Then I squeeze the tip-in as close to the middle of the Bible pages that I can get. Let this dry before closing.
