Beginner Friendly Bible Journaling- Holding Hands- Plus a Free Printable

I’ve been quiet here on the blog and social media lately because my family recently moved a few hours north to our new duty station. Boy did I underestimate how tough unpacking and getting settled would be with a threemonth-old baby!

The blessing though, is that we are now just an hour away from our hometown and both our parents. So they have been able to come watch the baby while we unpack and try to create a comfortable home!

All this to say that I am so thankful for my tribe! I don’t know how I could do life without them. It reminds me of Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10 “Two are better than one, because they have good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

I decided to create a Bible journaling page for this verse, and since I have been scraping together time to journal, I kept it nice and simple. (But that doesn’t mean it’s any less beautiful or meaningful!)

I created a printable outline of holding hands to trace onto my journaling Bible page! You can download the printable for free by CLICKING HERE!

Because this tutorial is simple and has the free printable you can trace, this “holding hands” Bible journaling page is super beginner friendly! I would encourage you to give it a try!

And remember, you can always change things up! If you don’t feel comfortable painting over the words (or painting at all in your Bible), you can paint it on a separate sheet of paper and add it as a tip-in to your Bible, journal in a separate notebook, or scale it down to fit the margins. You, of course, can also use colored pencils or your favorite art medium instead of watercolors!

Key Notes

  • I do not prep my pages! I paint directly on the Journaling Bible page and do not have any bleed through with the supplies I use!
  • I use the same eight supplies for 99% of my Bible journaling pages. Find out more about them HERE
  • I personally do not mind painting over the text in my specific journaling Bibles, but that is a personal decision. Do what feels right for you! (The Interleaved Journaling Bible is a great Bible option, as it has full blank pages on every other page. So you can paint directly in the Bible without worrying about covering up the text.)
  • The trickiest part of this Bible journaling page is mixing the skin tones. I used a combination of a brown and a rust color from my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor Set, along with A LOT of water to mute the colors. I simply use a paper plate to mix my colors and test on a separate sheet of paper until I get the color I want.
